We are only a few minutes from the shores of Lake Annecy and its spectacular scenery, swimming, water sports, cycling, walking and para-gliding. There are two 18 hole golf courses and a 9 hole course all within about ten minutes drive; there's pony riding at several centres nearby, including one that's less than ten minutes drive, and Foret d'Aventures is only about a 20 minute drive. The Tour de France passed nearby in 2004, climbing to Col de la Forclaz.

We are convenient by car for Annecy and the villages on both sides of the lake, and for the Winter Olympic centre at Albertville to the south-west.

Several ski resorts are close enough to visit for the day, including nursery slopes at Montmin a few minutes away, Le Semnoz close to Annecy, La Clusaz, Les Saisies, Crest-Voland, Megève and Courchevel. Chamonix and Mont Blanc are also reachable, by motorway.

Most of the local village amenities are no more than a two-minute walk, including the modern, well-stocked supermarket, baker, charcuterie, bank, tabac, brasserie and the bar.

The city of Annecy, for shopping, restaurants, history and theatre, is 25 minutes drive to the north, along the west side of the lake. It’s possible to cycle between Doussard and Annecy on a dedicated cycle route along the lake. As well as all the water sports around the lake, you can experience hang-gliding over the lake with an instructor from Col de la Forclaz, a 5 km winding climb above Talloires. The location is ideal for golfers, being situated half way between the spectacular courses at Golf du lac d'Annecy at Echarvines on the east side of the lake (tel +33 4 50 60 12 89), and the 9 and 18-hole courses at Golf de Giez (www.golfdegiez.com) with views of Mont Blanc and Lac d'Annecy.
